CARE TIPS FOR YOUR SWISS ARMY KNIFE

The steel used in our knives is tempered, annealed, and polished to achieve the required hardness and provide optimal resistance to corrosion.

SHARPENING

To sharpen your knife, use a whetstone at an angle of 15°–20° for a cutting angle of 30°–40°. When sharpening on a grinding wheel, always use plenty of water to prevent excessive temperatures and potential damages.

CLEANING

If the blades of your knife start to stick together, simply open and close them in warm water multiple times to loosen them up. Once dry, apply a drop of Swiss Army Knife Oil between each tool and its spring. Avoid putting Swiss Army Knives in the dishwasher.

In 1884, Master Cutler Karl Elsener established a cutlery shop in Ibach, Switzerland. There, he and his cutlers’ union crafted top-notch steel cutlery with the renowned proprietary edge that is favored worldwide by professionals and home cooks. Karl supplied the Swiss Army with its standard Soldier’s Knife and Officer’s Knife. Following his mother's passing and the introduction of stainless steel, Karl renamed the company Victorinox. From these humble beginnings, a global icon was born. Victorinox is still family-owned and operated by the Elsener family, residing in the quaint village of Ibach, Switzerland to this day.
